About Spottswoode
Spottswoode is on the western edge of St. Helena in Napa Valley, on an estate founded in 1882 by George Schonewald, who called it Lyndenhurst. Frank Kraft built the original winery soon after. The property changed hands several times before the Spotts family gave it its present name in 1910. Mary and Jack Novak bought it in 1972. After Jack died, Mary released the first Spottswoode Cabernet in 1982, the estate's centenary. The vineyard has been farmed organically since 1985 and was certified in 1992. Mary's daughters Beth and Lindy Novak now run it, making Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and the Lyndenhurst Cabernet.
