Domaine Rostaing is one of Cote-Rotie's most celebrated small estates, built around vineyards inherited by Rene Rostaing from his father-in-law Marius Gentaz-Dervieux and uncle Albert Dervieux-Thaize — two of Cote-Rotie's legendary traditionalists. Rene assembled a remarkable collection of old-vine plots across both the Cote Blonde and Cote Brune, including the prized La Landonne site. At auction, 140 lots have traded at an average of $118, ranging from $39 to $770. The estate's Ampodium cuvee — a blend of parcels — averages $75 across 59 lots and serves as the entry point. Cote Brune, the single-vineyard bottling, averages $494 across 10 lots — the serious collector tier. The Cuvee Classique averages $227 across 6 lots. Rostaing's La Landonne has achieved Parker scores of 96-100 from benchmark years including 1991, 1995, 1999, and 2003 — scores that drive auction premiums for older vintages far above recent release prices.
