Domaine Rostaing is one of Cote-Rotie's most celebrated small estates, built around vineyards inherited by Rene Rostaing from his father-in-law Marius Gentaz-Dervieux and uncle Albert Dervieux-Thaize — two of Cote-Rotie's legendary traditionalists. Rene assembled a remarkable collection of old-vine plots across both the Cote Blonde and Cote Brune, including the prized La Landonne site. At auction, 140 lots have traded at an average of $118, ranging from $39 to $770. The estate's Ampodium cuvee — a blend of parcels — averages $75 across 59 lots and serves as the entry point. Cote Brune, the single-vineyard bottling, averages $494 across 10 lots — the serious collector tier. The Cuvee Classique averages $227 across 6 lots. In the Glass
Cote-Rotie Syrah of exceptional aromatic brilliance: violets, creme de cassis, smoked olive, white pepper, and iron-mineral depth with silky, fine-grained tannins. Rostaing's partial destemming and shorter maceration produce a more elegant, perfumed style than the Jasmin or Jamet traditionalists. Cote Brune adds bacon fat and darker fruit density. Wines age magnificently, developing leather, truffles, and dried flower complexity over 15-25 years.
