La Pousse d'Or

Domaine La Pousse d'Or is a prestigious Volnay-based estate with holdings across some of Burgundy's finest premier and grand cru appellations. The domaine was revived and substantially expanded by Patrick Landanger, who purchased it in 1997 and began converting to biodynamic viticulture. Landanger assembled a portfolio reaching beyond the original Volnay monopole holdings into Chambolle-Musigny, Pommard, and grand cru sites in Clos de la Roche, Bonnes Mares, and Corton. The Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru Les Amoureuses—widely regarded as Burgundy's finest premier cru—averages $355 across 21 lots with the 2014 vintage peak, and has reached $1,673 at auction maximum. Clos de la Roche Grand Cru averages $272 across 19 lots (2009 vintage most active). Bonnes Mares Grand Cru averages $243 across 18 lots. The Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes, sourced from parcels next to Les Amoureuses, averages $417 across 5 lots—unusually high for a premier cru, reflecting selection quality. Corton Grand Cru Les Bressandes averages $130 across 29 lots. Across 171 lots at an average of $246, La Pousse d'Or delivers some of Burgundy's most compelling grand cru value from a biodynamic estate.

Les Amoureuses averages $355 per lot and reaches $1,673 at auction ceiling—one of Burgundy's most valuable premier cru parcels, considered by many to deserve grand cru status.
The domaine holds grand cru parcels in Clos de la Roche, Bonnes Mares, and Corton—an unusual breadth for an estate headquartered in the village of Volnay.
Patrick Landanger completed biodynamic certification across all estate vineyards following his 1997 acquisition, fundamentally transforming quality from the previous ownership period.
Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes averages $417 across 5 lots despite premier cru classification—a reflection of the domaine's parcel location immediately adjacent to Les Amoureuses.

In the Glass

La Pousse d'Or's wines have a distinctive purity and precision consistent with biodynamic viticulture. Les Amoureuses is Chambolle at its most sublime: rose petal, red cherry, and minerals with silk-fine tannins and extraordinary elegance. Clos de la Roche is more structured and earthy—dark fruit, forest floor, spice—while retaining aromatic lift. Bonnes Mares sits between the two in power and fragrance, with depth that rewards a decade of cellaring.
