Morlet

Morlet Family Vineyards is the Sonoma County project of Luc Morlet, former head winemaker at Peter Michael Winery, who launched his own label in 2006. The estate focuses on single-vineyard Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Sonoma Coast and Sta. Rita Hills sources, as well as Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley and Knights Valley. The 314-lot auction record spans eight distinct wines averaging $134 per bottle — a premium position that reflects Luc Morlet's technical training (he studied in Burgundy and at Peter Michael) and the scarcity of each cuvée. The Chardonnay Ma Douce leads the portfolio with the most lots, while the Pinot Noir Joli Coeur and Cabernet Sauvignon Mon Chevalier provide the prestige tiers. The Passionnément and Coeur de Vallée Cabernets, sourced from Knights Valley and Napa, offer different expressions of the variety. Morlet farms biodynamically and keeps all bottlings under 200–300 cases, creating persistent secondary-market scarcity. The wines consistently earn 93–98 point scores from major critics and have attracted a loyal collector base that drives steady auction turnover.

Luc Morlet trained in Burgundy and served as head winemaker at Peter Michael Winery before launching his own label in 2006; 314 auction lots averaging $134 per bottle reflect both his technical pedigree and the wines' extreme scarcity.
Each Morlet cuvée is produced in under 200–300 cases, spanning Chardonnay (Ma Douce, Ma Princesse, Coup de Coeur) and Pinot Noir (Joli Coeur, En Famille) from Sonoma Coast and Sta. Rita Hills.
The Cabernet Sauvignon Mon Chevalier consistently earns scores in the 95–98 point range and averages near the top of the $134 portfolio mean, reflecting a small but devoted collector following.
Morlet farms biodynamically across all estate vineyards and sourced sites — a commitment that adds both viticultural quality and market distinction in Sonoma's competitive premium-wine segment.

In the Glass

Morlet Chardonnays combine Burgundian tension with California texture: white peach, citrus zest, struck flint, and a creamy mid-palate that stops well short of butter. The Pinot Noirs (Joli Coeur, En Famille) show red cherry, dried rose, and forest floor with silky tannins and refreshing acidity. The Cabernet Sauvignons (Mon Chevalier, Passionnément) are dense and savoury — cassis and iron-mineral with long dry-extract finishes requiring 7–12 years.
