Verite
Vérité is a Sonoma County ultra-premium producer founded in 1998 by Jess Jackson (of Kendall-Jackson) and winemaker Pierre Seillan, who brought 30 years of Bordeaux estate experience to the project of producing the finest Bordeaux-variety blends from Sonoma's diverse microclimates. The estate produces three wines — La Joie, La Muse, and Le Désir — each representing a different Bordeaux archetype in California expression: La Joie is Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant (like a Left Bank Pauillac), La Muse is Merlot-dominant (like a Right Bank Saint-Émilion), and Le Désir is Cabernet Franc-dominant (like a Loire or Right Bank Bordeaux). Parker awarded La Joie 100 points for the 2002, 2003, and 2004 vintages, and multiple vintages of all three wines earn 97–100 points — an extraordinary run that has elevated Vérité to the top tier of California collectibles. Production of each wine is extremely small — under 1,000 cases — driving the $256 average across 538 lots with top vintages trading at $400–600+. Pierre Seillan sources fruit from over 30 distinct Sonoma microclimates, blending parcel-by-parcel for maximum complexity. The estate's approach — European training applied to Californian terroir diversity — produces wines that confound stylistic categories and attract both European and American collectors.

In the Glass
Three Bordeaux archetypes from Sonoma's diverse microclimates: La Joie shows cassis, graphite, and cedar in a structured, long-aging framework. La Muse is the most opulent — dark plum, truffle, mocha, and a velvety Right Bank texture. Le Désir is the most aromatic — violet, pencil shavings, and dried herbs from the Cabernet Franc lead. All three share extraordinary density from low yields and Seillan's Bordeaux-trained precision.
