About Abreu

Abreu Vineyards is the label of David Abreu, a Napa viticulturist who grew up in Rutherford and in 1980 set up David Abreu Vineyard Management, working with winemaker Richard Forman on ranching at Inglenook. Forman later called him probably the valley's leading grower for premium grapes, and in 2006 he was hired to replant Screaming Eagle. Abreu's own wines, first made in 1987, come from vineyards such as Madrona Ranch, Cappella, Las Posadas and Thorevilos, a 20-acre site he and Forman leased and planted in the late 1990s, first released in 2000. Robert Parker gave the 1997 Madrona Ranch Cabernet 100 points. The estate also produces olive oil.
