About Beringer

Beringer Vineyards was founded in 1876 in St. Helena and claims to be the oldest continuously operating winery in Napa Valley. Brothers Jacob and Frederick Beringer had bought land there in 1875. Frederick's Rhine House, a Queen Anne-style mansion of 1883–84, is the centrepiece of an estate listed as a historic district. In 1934 Beringer opened its doors to visitors, the first California winery to run public tours after Prohibition. The family sold the business to Nestlé in 1971. It later passed through a Texas Pacific Group-led company and Foster's Group, and Treasury Wine Estates has owned it since 2011.
