About Bruno Giacosa
Bruno Giacosa, born in 1929 in Neive, followed his grandfather Carlo and father Mario into the family trade and started work at 15. For decades he made wine only from grapes bought from trusted growers, and in the 1960s he stood with Gaja and the Produttori del Barbaresco as a leading name in Barbaresco; his Santo Stefano bottling began with 1964. In the 1970s he and Vietti helped save the Arneis grape. Wines from owned vineyards are labelled Azienda Agricola Falletto and bought-in wines Casa Vinicola Bruno Giacosa; the estate now covers about 20 ha. After his 2006 stroke his daughter Bruna took on more responsibility; he died in 2018.
