About Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste

Grand-Puy-Lacoste is a Pauillac estate classified as a Fifth Growth in 1855. Grand Puy is a low gravel hill once owned by a single estate; part of it was sold in 1750 and became Grand-Puy-Ducasse. The remaining property changed its name as daughters of the family married. It was Saint-Guiron in the mid-19th century and became Grand-Puy-Lacoste when a daughter married François Lacoste. About 36 hectares of deep gravel over limestone are planted, about three-quarters to Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is aged in oak, half of it new, and the second wine is Lacoste-Borie.
