About Domaine Sylvain Cathiard
The Cathiard domaine in Vosne-Romanée goes back to 1930, when Sylvain Cathiard's grandfather came from Savoy, worked at Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and at Lamarche, and bought vineyard plots whose grapes he sold to local houses. His son André ran the business from 1969 to 1985 and began bottling some vintages himself. After André retired in 1995, Sylvain leased the family vines. Sylvain's son Sébastien, trained in Chablis, Bordeaux and New Zealand, joined in the late 2000s and has headed the estate since 2011. Its five or so hectares include Romanée-Saint-Vivant and the Vosne premiers crus Malconsorts, Suchots and Reignots.
