About Dominus

Dominus, Christian Moueix's Yountville estate, makes three Cabernet-led reds from the dry-farmed, organically certified Napanook vineyard, about 108 planted acres of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Dominus itself, the vin de garde, draws on the more gravelly back of the vineyard near the Mayacamas; in 2021 it was 95% Cabernet and 5% Cabernet Franc, raised in French oak, and the winery noted dense plum, forest floor and incense. Napanook comes largely from the vineyard's middle, from blocks chosen for lively fruit, soft tannins and early maturity, aged about 20 months in 20% new oak. Othello, the third wine, is juicy and approachable young.
