About Hubert Lignier

Domaine Hubert Lignier began in 1885, when Jacques Lignier, a vineyard foreman on the Côte de Nuits, bought plots in Morey-Saint-Denis ruined by phylloxera. His son Jules replanted them, and the estate passed to Jules's son Henri and then, in 1959, to Henri's eldest son Hubert, who started bottling at the domaine in 1973. Hubert's younger son Romain joined in 1992 on 7.5 hectares but died young; his other son Laurent arrived in 2004, steering the estate to organic farming from 2006, a new cellar in 2008 and AB certification in 2019. The domaine reached eleven hectares by 2020, including holdings in Clos de la Roche.
