About Kapcsandy Family Winery
Lou Kapcsándy left Hungary in 1956 and built a career in chemical engineering and manufacturing in the San Francisco Bay Area and Seattle. A 1998 visit with his wife Bobbie to Château Léoville-Las Cases in Bordeaux inspired them to start a wine business with their son Louis Jr. and retire to Napa Valley. Within months they found a 20-acre Yountville parcel that had been one of the sources for Beringer's Private Reserve Cabernet, closing on it in May 2000. After two years restoring the soil, they replanted it in 2002 as fifteen blocks of mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, and finished their own winery in 2005.
