About Peter Michael
British technology entrepreneur Peter Michael bought a largely abandoned ranch on the western slope of Mount St. Helena in Sonoma's Knights Valley in 1982. Planting of the Les Pavots block for Cabernet and Bordeaux varieties began the next year, and Helen Turley made the first Les Pavots in 1988 at a custom-crush facility before the estate winery was started in 1989. Chardonnay sites such as La Carrière, Mon Plaisir, Belle Côte and Ma Belle-Fille followed. The family later added Pinot Noir from the Seaview property on the Sonoma Coast and the Au Paradis Cabernet estate in Oakville. Sir Peter's son Paul has taken an increasing role since 2000.
