About Silver Oak

Silver Oak Cellars was set up in 1972 by oilman Ray Duncan and winemaker Justin Meyer, who agreed to put everything into a single grape, Cabernet Sauvignon. The name refers to its site between Oakville and the Silverado Trail. The first vintage came from Alexander Valley fruit and was made on a former dairy farm in Oakville, where the Napa winery was built in 1981–82. Daniel Baron joined as Meyer's successor in 1994. Meyer sold his share to Duncan in 2001, and the business is now run by Ray's sons David and Tim. The family runs wineries in both Oakville and Healdsburg and also founded Twomey Cellars in 1999.
