Inglenook

Inglenook is one of California's most historically significant estates, founded in 1879 by Finnish sea captain Gustave Niebaum on a 2,000-acre Rutherford property. After a period of ownership by Heublein that degraded the brand, Francis Ford Coppola purchased the estate in stages beginning in 1975, restored the Inglenook name in 2011, and now produces Cask Cabernet Sauvignon as the flagship. The estate's depth at auction spans from a 1969 Pinot Noir to current releases. The Cask Cabernet Sauvignon is the primary modern wine (88 lots, $194, 2012 peak), while the Reserve Cask (58 lots, $79, best 1985 vintage) reflects the estate's pre-Coppola history. Rubicon—the top wine during Coppola's first era—averages $144 across 54 lots (2018 best).
