About Bouchard Pere et Fils
Bouchard Père et Fils grew out of the business of Michel Bouchard, a cloth merchant from the Dauphiné who settled in Beaune; Wikipedia dates the firm to 1731. His son Joseph joined him in 1746, moved into wine and bought the first family vines in Pommard Les Combes. The firm took the Bouchard Père et Fils name in 1785, and in 1820 Bernard Bouchard acquired the Château de Beaune, whose galleries became the ageing cellars. The Bouchard family sold to Joseph Henriot in 1995, who added further sites, and in 2022 the house joined Artémis Domaines. It owns about 130 ha, including 12 ha of grand cru.
