About Domaine de la Romanee-Conti

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is named after its most celebrated vineyard, which the Prince of Conti won in 1760 after a bidding contest with Madame de Pompadour. Seized and auctioned during the Revolution, the vineyard was bought in 1869 by Jacques-Marie Duvault-Blochet, who assembled the modern domaine by adding parcels in Échezeaux, Grands Échezeaux and Richebourg. La Tâche was purchased from the Liger-Belair family in 1933 and merged with neighbouring Les Gaudichots into a single monopole in 1936, while Romanée-Saint-Vivant was leased from 1966 and bought in 1988. Centred on Vosne-Romanée, the estate farms Pinot Noir and Chardonnay organically at very low yields.
