About Chateau Latour
Latour sits at the southern tip of Pauillac beside Saint-Julien, near the Gironde, and takes its name from a medieval fortified tower; the round tower that symbolises it today dates from the 1620s. The de Mullet family assembled the smallholdings into one estate in the late 16th century, and it then passed by marriage into the Ségur family, which held it until 1963. Ranked a First Growth in 1855, it passed in 1963 to Britain's Pearson Group, whose managers introduced stainless-steel vats and a second wine. Allied Lyons bought it in 1989, and François Pinault's Groupe Artémis acquired it in 1993.
