About Domaine Leflaive

Domaine Leflaive is a white-wine estate in Puligny-Montrachet whose family roots there go back to a Claude Leflaive in 1717. Its modern form dates to Joseph Leflaive, a naval engineer who worked on France's first submarine and, in 1905, bought 25 ha while post-phylloxera vineyard prices were low. From 1920 he replanted and began bottling under his own name. His sons Vincent and Jo built its reputation after 1953, and a company structure followed in 1973. Anne-Claude Leflaive shared the management with her cousin Olivier from 1990, ran it alone from 1994 and switched to biodynamics in 1997. Holdings include 5.1 ha of grand crus, among them Montrachet.
