About Chateau Pichon Baron
Pichon Baron, formally Château Pichon Longueville Baron, is a Pauillac estate ranked a Second Growth in the 1855 classification. It was once part of a larger property owned by Pierre de Rauzan, together with what is now Pichon Comtesse, until the estate was split in two in 1850. The insurer AXA bought it in 1987 and made Jean-Michel Cazes of Lynch-Bages its administrator. Christian Seely now runs it. Its 73 hectares lie at the southern edge of Pauillac, next to Saint-Julien, planted mostly to Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot. The second wine is Les Tourelles de Longueville.
