Alain Hudelot-Noellat

Alain Hudelot-Noëllat is a small Burgundy domaine based in Vougeot, farming parcels across the Côte de Nuits including Romanée-Saint-Vivant and Richebourg Grand Crus, Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, and multiple premier and village appellations. The domaine was run by Alain Hudelot-Noëllat until his death in 2011; operations passed to his grandson Charles van Canneyt, and the wines under the Alain Hudelot-Noëllat label represent one of the Côte de Nuits' most traditionally made and collectible ranges. A separate domaine — Hudelot-Noëllat (without Alain) — produces related wines from overlapping family parcels, causing persistent collector confusion. At auction, the records show Chambolle-Musigny village averaging $74 and Nuits-Saint-Georges Au Bas de Combe at $62 — primarily entry-level wines. This pricing suggests these lots are from the village and lower-tier premier cru range rather than the grand crus. Older lots from before 2005 from Richebourg and Romanée-Saint-Vivant under the Alain label trade at dramatically higher prices not reflected in the $74–$189 range of the 100 lots recorded here. The 2005 vintage of the grand cru range was celebrated, but these numbers appear to reflect primarily village-level auction activity.
