Rothschild (Bordeaux) acquired a majority stake in 1990 and completed full ownership by 1999, bringing financial resources and technical expertise that transformed the property. The plateau's clay-dominant soils — particularly around L'Évangile's central parcels — produce Merlot of extraordinary density, while the Pomerol gravel provides freshness. Planted approximately 78% Merlot and 22% Cabernet Franc, L'Évangile produces a grand vin of outstanding complexity and a second wine, Blason de L'Évangile. Across 1,239 auction lots averaging $290 per bottle, L'Évangile is one of Pomerol's most actively traded collectibles. Key vintages include 1982 (a legendary pre-Rothschild wine), 1990, 1995, 2000, and in the modern era 2009, 2010, 2012, 2015, and 2018. At auction, top vintages command $400–$900 per bottle; the 1982 has exceeded $2,000 in magnum. The estate is managed by technical director Jean-Pascal Vazart and its wine is consistently scored 95–100 in the finest vintages.
