Domaine Vincent Paris

Domaine Vincent Paris is a small family domaine in Cornas, the most southerly and arguably most tannic Northern Rhône appellation, located across the river from Condrieu. Vincent Paris took over the family vines in 1997, producing Cornas and Saint-Péray from granite terroir. His two principal Cornas cuvées — Granit 30 and Granit 60 — are named for the average age of the Syrah vines used in each: approximately 30 years for the entry cuvée and 60 years for the flagship. A third wine, La Géynale, is produced from a specific lieu-dit parcel planted in 1940 — old-vine Syrah on pure granite. At auction, the domaine averages $67 per bottle across 166 lots, with La Géynale commanding the highest prices and Granit 30 driving volume. Vincent Paris represents excellent value within Cornas compared to the appellation's headline producers — Clape, Verset, Noel Verset, and Allemand — who command $200–500+ for comparable terroir. The 2010, 2015, and 2017 vintages are critical benchmarks, with La Géynale earning 90–94 points from Wine Advocate in strong years. Cornas as an appellation has seen renewed collector interest since 2010 as buyers look for structured Northern Rhône Syrah at prices below Hermitage and Côte-Rôtie. Paris's wines benefit from this trend while remaining accessible relative to appellation stars. Limited production and increasing critical recognition suggest gradual auction price appreciation.

The Granit 60 and La Géynale cuvées are sourced from Syrah vines averaging 60 years and 80+ years old respectively — La Géynale's parcel was planted in 1940 on pure Cornas granite.
At $67 average auction price across 166 lots, Vincent Paris offers Cornas at a significant discount to appellation benchmarks Auguste Clape ($200+) and Thierry Allemand ($300+).
Three distinct cuvées from the same appellation allow buyers to track the effect of vine age: Granit 30, Granit 60, and La Géynale each show progressively greater depth and complexity.
Cornas is a 100% Syrah appellation on granite, legally requiring no blending — Paris's wines are among the purest expressions of Northern Rhône granite-Syrah typicity in the auction record.

In the Glass

100% Syrah from Cornas granite, delivering concentrated black olive, smoked meat, blackberry, violets, white pepper, and iron. La Géynale's 80+ year vines add further density and brooding mineral depth. Firm, grippy tannins in youth require 5–12 years of cellaring; Granit 30 is the most approachable. Classic Northern Rhône structure: earthy, mineral, and austere compared to Southern Rhône Syrah.
