Linne Calodo

Linne Calodo is a small Paso Robles producer founded in 1999 by Matt Trevisan, specialising in Rhône-varietal blends sourced from limestone-rich soils on the Westside of Paso Robles. The winery takes its name from a local soil type — a calcareous clay-loam — that Trevisan believes is central to his wines' minerality and longevity. Production is tiny, typically a few hundred cases per wine, distributed almost entirely through a mailing list. The flagship wines — Problem Child (Grenache-based), Outsider (Syrah-led), and Sticks & Stones (Mourvèdre-dominant) — each reflect specific terroir expressions within the estate's holdings. At auction, the estate trades at a relatively modest average of $57 across 500 lots, with a maximum of $246, reflecting the niche collector base rather than broad market demand. Trevisan also co-founded the original Linne Calodo partnership with Justin Smith of Saxum prior to striking out on his own. Critical reception has been strong: Wine Advocate scores frequently land in the 92–95 range for the flagship reds. The wines represent excellent value relative to comparable Paso Robles cult producers.
