Vietti

Vietti is one of Barolo's most respected and historically significant estates, producing single-vineyard Barolos from some of the Langhe's most prestigious crus since the early 20th century. The estate was transformed under Alfredo Currado — who married into the Vietti family — and his son Luca, establishing it as both a quality benchmark and a pioneer in presenting Barolo as a wine of distinct crus. The single-vineyard range includes Rocche (Castiglione Falletto), Lazzarito (Serralunga), Brunate (La Morra), and Villero (Castiglione), each showing different aspects of Nebbiolo's terroir expression. The modern era began in 2016 when the Krause family of Florida acquired the estate from Luca Currado, though Luca has remained as winemaker. Vietti was one of the first estates to label Barolo by specific vineyard, and the Rocche di Castiglione — from very old vines in this historic cru — is considered one of the appellation's greatest wines. At auction, Vietti's single-vineyard Barolos are among the most sought-after from the appellation, with the Rocche and Lazzarito from top vintages commanding prices that reflect their status as benchmark Barolo expressions.
