The d'Angerville family has owned the domaine since the early 20th century; the current Marquis, Guillaume d'Angerville, maintains the monopole's reputation for producing the most complex and age-worthy wine in the village. Volnay Clos des Ducs is the most complete expression of what the village can achieve: intensely perfumed red cherry, violet, and rose petal on the nose; a palate combining silky, fine-grained tannins with a mineral backbone and vibrant acidity; and a finish of extraordinary length and precision.
