About Langhe
The Langhe is a historic hill country south and east of the Tanaro river, in Piedmont's provinces of Cuneo and Asti. It is famous for wine, cheese and the white truffles of Alba. In June 2014 part of it, including the Langa of Barolo, Grinzane Cavour castle and the hills of Barbaresco, joined UNESCO's World Heritage list. The listing recognised a vineyard landscape shaped by a long tradition of matching grape varieties to local soils and climate. The area also features in the writing of Cesare Pavese and Beppe Fenoglio.
