About Chateau Haut-Bailly
Haut-Bailly is a red-wine estate in Léognan, south of Bordeaux, on sand and gravel soils typical of the Graves. Its vineyard is thought to date from the 16th century, and the Parisian banker Firmin Le Bailly gave it his name around 1630. It became famous after Alcide Bellot des Minières bought it in 1872, but declined around the phylloxera era. Belgian merchant Daniel Sanders bought it in 1955 and restored its reputation. Since 1998 it has belonged to the American banker Robert Wilmers and later his estate, with Véronique Sanders as manager. The vines are mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, and the second wine is La Parde.
