About Chateau Haut-Brion
Haut-Brion, in Pessac on the edge of Bordeaux city, traces its estate to 1525, when Jean de Pontac married into the Haut-Brion land; the cellar ledger of Charles II records its wine in 1660, and Samuel Pepys noted 'Ho Bryen' in 1663. Arnaud III de Pontac built its London fame as one of the first estate-named clarets. In 1855 it became the only First Growth outside the Médoc. The American banker Clarence Dillon bought it in 1935, and his family company, Domaine Clarence Dillon, later added neighbouring La Mission Haut-Brion in 1983. Its second red was renamed Le Clarence de Haut-Brion in 2007.
