About Chateau Leoville Las Cases

Léoville-Las Cases in Saint-Julien is the core of what was once the much larger Léoville estate. Part of that estate was separated at the French Revolution and became Léoville Barton, and a further division in 1840 created Léoville-Poyferré. Classified a Second Growth in 1855, it has belonged to the Delon family since the mid-20th century; they also own Potensac and Nénin. Its largest parcel, the Grand Clos, is separated from Château Latour only by a small stream. The 97 ha are mostly Cabernet Sauvignon. Clos du Marquis has been made since 1902, Le Petit Lion since 2007, and the 1971 placed sixth at the 1976 Judgment of Paris.
