About Chateau Leoville Poyferre
Léoville-Poyferré is a Saint-Julien estate in the Médoc. It was part of the large Léoville property, which was divided at the time of the French Revolution. A further split of Léoville-Las Cases in 1840 created Poyferré. That share passed to Baron de Poyferré on his marriage to a daughter of Jean de Las Cases, and the estate still carries his name. Along with its two Léoville neighbours, it was ranked a Second Growth in the 1855 classification.
