About Domaine Bruno Clair

Bruno Clair's family were long the force behind Domaine Clair-Daü in Marsannay, founded by his grandfather Joseph Clair, who helped shift the village from Gamay and Aligoté to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay after the First World War. His father Bernard joined in 1939 and ran it until 1982. Bruno started a domaine under his own name in 1979, and when family disputes broke up the 38-hectare Clair-Daü in 1985, he took over his share of its vines in 1986. Further parcels in Corton-Charlemagne, Pernand-Vergelesses and Aloxe-Corton followed in 1993. The estate now farms about 25 hectares across 28 appellations, including Clos de Bèze, Bonnes-Mares and Clos Saint-Jacques.
