About Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande
The Pichon estate was put together by Pierre de Mazur de Rauzan in the late 17th century across land on the Pauillac and Saint-Julien border. When his daughter married the Bordeaux politician Jacques Pichon Longueville in 1694, the property took the Pichon name, and in 1850 it was split into the two Pichon châteaux, this one going to the line of the Comtesse de Lalande. It was ranked a Second Growth in 1855. Édouard and Louis Miailhe bought it in 1925; Édouard's daughter May-Éliane de Lencquesaing later ran it and, in 2006, sold a majority to the Rouzaud family of Louis Roederer, which then replanted and built a new cellar.
