Hall

Hall Wines is a family-owned Napa Valley producer founded by Kathryn and Craig Hall in 1995, with estates in Rutherford, St. Helena, and on Napa's eastern hills. The flagship Kathryn Hall Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from the estate's Sacrashe Vineyard in Rutherford, is the portfolio centrepiece — a modern Napa Cabernet that has earned scores of 95–97 from Wine Advocate and Wine Spectator. The winery is LEED Platinum certified and practices sustainable farming across its 450+ hectares of vineyard holdings. Hall produces an extensive range from entry-level to prestige single-vineyard expressions, with the Cabernet Sauvignon tier offering the most consistent critical recognition. Across 479 auction lots, the estate averages $92 per bottle, with prices reaching $308. While Hall has not attained the cult status of Harlan or Bryant Family, the combination of consistent scoring, sustainable credentials, and accessible pricing relative to the competition has built a loyal following.

In the Glass

Hall Cabernet Sauvignons are textbook Napa Valley: rich blackcurrant, black cherry, dark chocolate, and cedar with well-integrated toasty new oak and firm but polished tannins. The Rutherford terroir contributes the dusty 'Rutherford bench' character — a fine silty texture on the finish. Kathryn Hall expressions show greater concentration and structure; the varietal Cabernet is more immediately approachable. All wines are full-bodied and approachable young, with the capacity to improve for 10–15 years.
