About Chateau Gruaud Larose
Gruaud-Larose in Saint-Julien traces back to 1725 and Joseph Stanislas Gruaud. In 1778 part of the estate passed to Joseph Sébastien de La Rose, who added his name. It was ranked a Second Growth in 1855. In 1867 heirs divided it into Gruaud-Larose-Sarget and Gruaud-Larose-Faure. The Cordier family reunited the two halves, buying one in 1917 and the other in 1935. Compagnie de Suez, Alcatel-Alsthom and, from 1997, Jacques Merlaut's Taillan Group followed as owners. Its 82 hectares are mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, and the second wine is Sarget de Gruaud-Larose.
