About Clos de Tart

Clos de Tart is a walled Grand Cru in Morey-Saint-Denis, owned entirely by a single estate. It lies uphill from the village, between Bonnes Mares and Clos des Lambrays. In 1141 Maison Dieu in Brochon sold it to the Cistercian nuns of Notre Dame de Tart, who kept it until the French Revolution, when the state seized and sold it. The Mommessins acquired it in 1932 and still owned it when its AOC was created in 1939. In 2017 they sold it to Groupe Artemis. It is planted solely to Pinot noir, with about 7.5 hectares in production in 2008.
