About Giuseppe Mascarello e Figlio
Giuseppe Mascarello e Figlio was founded in 1881 by the great-grandfather of Mauro Mascarello. Mauro's grandfather Maurizio bought vineyards in Monprivato at Castiglione Falletto in 1904 and in 1919 moved the winemaking to a former ice factory in Monchiero, prized for its constant temperature. Mauro worked beside his father for about fifteen years before taking charge in 1967. From 1970 the estate bottled each vineyard separately, starting with Monprivato, and it later added the Ca' d'Morissio Riserva from Michet-clone vines planted in 1922. Its 44.5 acres in Castiglione Falletto and Monforte d'Alba are about two-thirds Nebbiolo, alongside Barbera and Dolcetto.
