About Aloxe-Corton
Aloxe-Corton is a Côte de Beaune appellation, created in 1938, covering vineyards in Aloxe-Corton and Ladoix-Serrigny. Most of the Corton hill lies in Aloxe-Corton, including parts of all three of its grands crus: Corton, Corton-Charlemagne and Charlemagne. The village and premier cru wines are almost entirely red Pinot Noir, about 98 per cent, with a tiny amount of Chardonnay. About 118 hectares were in production in 2008. The reds are dark ruby to garnet, with red and black fruit, and robust and structured, typically kept five to fifteen years.
