About Musigny
Musigny is a grand cru south of the village of Chambolle-Musigny, bordered by Clos de Vougeot, Échezeaux and the premier cru Les Amoureuses. It is named after the now-extinct de Musigny family, who served at the Burgundian ducal court from the 14th century. Its boundaries were fixed in 1929 and the appellation created in 1936. It is the only Côte de Nuits grand cru that makes both red and white wine, although red makes up over 90 per cent. About ten hectares were in production in 2008. Top producers include Vogüé, the largest, along with Mugnier, Roumier and Domaine Leroy.
