About Chambolle-Musigny
Chambolle-Musigny is a red-wine village appellation on the Côte de Nuits, created in 1936, for Pinot Noir. The commune has 25 premier cru vineyards and two grands crus, Musigny and Bonnes Mares, which are separate appellations. About 152 hectares were in production in 2008 at village and premier cru level, making a little over 800,000 bottles. Flatter land east of the N74 road qualifies only as Bourgogne. Its wines are usually described as the most 'feminine' reds of the Côte de Nuits, prized for floral finesse more than force.
