About Romanee-Conti
Romanée-Conti is a red grand cru in Vosne-Romanée and a monopole of the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, which is named after it. It was first a church vineyard linked to the Abbey of Saint-Vivant and passed to the de Croonembourg family in 1631, when it was known as La Romanée. The Prince of Conti bought it in 1760, added his name and kept the wine for himself. Julien Ouvrard bought it in 1819, and in 1869 Jacques-Marie Duvault-Blochet, ancestor of the de Villaine family, acquired it. It was among the last vineyards replanted after phylloxera, the 1945 being its last pre-phylloxera vintage. Under two hectares are planted.
