About Griotte-Chambertin
Griotte-Chambertin is a tiny red grand cru in Gevrey-Chambertin, created in 1937. It sits on the lower slope east of the Route des Grands Crus, across from Chambertin, between Chapelle-Chambertin to the north and Charmes-Chambertin to the south. The name is said to come from the grill-pan pattern of its vine rows. Its wines are typically deep in colour, softly fruity and velvety, and peak at around 10 to 20 years. Only about 2.6 hectares were in production in 2008, making some 14,000 bottles.
