About Vougeot
Vougeot is a small Côte de Nuits village appellation for red Pinot Noir and white Chardonnay. Most of the commune is taken up by a single grand cru, Clos de Vougeot, the largest on the Côte de Nuits. Most of the rest is premier cru, so village-level Vougeot is rare, coming mainly from flat land east of the N74. Outside the Clos, only about 16 hectares were in production in 2008, making around 70,000 bottles.
