About Chassagne-Montrachet
Chassagne-Montrachet covers the communes of Chassagne-Montrachet and Remigny in the southern Côte de Beaune. About two-thirds of its wine is white Chardonnay. The rest is red Pinot Noir, grown mainly in the south towards Santenay. The commune holds parts of three grands crus, Montrachet being the most famous, and has 50 premier cru vineyards. Some 301 hectares were in production at village and premier cru level in 2008, making about 2.1 million bottles.
