Échezeaux is Burgundy's most commercially accessible grand cru, with 5,900+ lots at auction making it one of the most traded Pinot Noir appellations outside Chambolle-Musigny. The 37.7-hectare vineyard — large by grand cru standards — sits between Vougeot and Vosne-Romanée and produces wines of remarkable consistency across a wide range of producers. Domaine de la Romanée-Conti holds 4.67 hectares and their Échezeaux is typically the entry point to the DRC range in both price ($500–800 per bottle) and style. Emmanuel Rouget, Henri Jayer's nephew and heir, produces an Échezeaux of legendary quality from old vines, trading at $800–1,200 per bottle. Méo-Camuzet, Gros Frère, and Mugneret-Gibourg round out the elite tier. The vineyard's size allows broader ownership — over 70 proprietors — creating a deep secondary market and genuine pricing diversity from under $100 (cooperative wine) to $1,500+ (DRC, Rouget).
