About Bourgogne Aligote
Bourgogne Aligoté is a regional white-wine appellation created in 1937. It can be used anywhere in Burgundy and covered about 1,700 hectares in 2007. It is made from Aligoté, with up to 15 per cent Chardonnay allowed. The wines are light, acidic and usually unoaked, quite unlike Burgundy's better-known Chardonnays, and are traditionally mixed with crème de cassis to make kir. Since 1998, Aligoté from Bouzeron has had its own village appellation.
