About Romanee-Saint-Vivant
Romanée-Saint-Vivant is a red grand cru in Vosne-Romanée, between Romanée-Conti and Richebourg and the village itself. It is named after the medieval Abbey of Saint-Vivant, which once owned much of Vosne's best land. Nicolas-Joseph Marey bought the whole vineyard in 1791, after the Revolution, and his family kept it as a monopole for over a century. Parts were later sold, including to the Latour family in 1898 and to Charles Noellat. Domaine de la Romanée-Conti leased the Marey-Monge share in 1966 and bought it in 1988, becoming the largest owner. About 9.3 hectares were in production in 2008.
